Slow Over-Rate Penalty 🚨
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday. As this was MI’s first offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakhs.
Match Summary 🏏
Mumbai suffered their second loss of the season as Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj powered Gujarat Titans to a dominant 36-run win in Match 9 of IPL 2025. Titans delivered a complete team performance to secure their first win of the tournament.
GT, batting first, rode on Sai Sudharsan's 63 off 41 balls to post 196/8. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj shined with the ball, picking up two wickets each to restrict MI to 160/6 in 20 overs.
MI's Struggles Continue 📉
Earlier, Hardik had missed MI’s campaign opener against Chennai Super Kings due to a suspension from IPL 2024 for a similar over-rate offence. MI struggled in his absence, losing to CSK by four wickets.
Currently placed ninth with no wins, MI will next face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
Hardik Pandya’s Statement 🎙️
“I think in batting and bowling we were 15-20 runs short in both places. We were not professional in the field, made basic errors, and that cost us 20-25 runs. In a T20 game, that is quite a lot. GT openers batted brilliantly, taking fewer risks while getting runs efficiently,” Hardik commented after the loss.
